Our area has some of the best restaurants. Here is where I have been dining lately. Try using Open Table to see what times are available.

Another one of the best on the outdoor mall in Cape May.

A great getaway with French New Orleans food!

Great ambiance, fresh seafood, get takeout right on the docks or cocktails on the Schooner Americana.

Day 3 The Great Escape to the Florida Keys PDF Print E-mail

Day 3 - Since Islamorada is the "Sportfishing Capital of the World", we rose early for a morning of fishing with Captain Greg Poland, recommended by the staff. http://www.gregpoland.com/ Greg was a great guide who explained a lot about the area and the fish we might catch. He picked us up at the hotel dock and we headed out to the lighthouse for some early barracuda fishing. It was a lot of fun reeling in the barracuda as they give you a real fight. After pictures, we threw it back. Then we headed out for some deep sea fishing as it was a calm day. We were given the option to head to the back bays where we were guaranteed catching fish or taking a chance going further out since it was a calm day. The Capt was very knowledgeable and helpful. I got one good bite which may have been a tuna but he got away. It was an enjoyable morning. We packed hoagies for the trip but ate them when we got back to our room.

That afternoon we headed over to Morada Bay Restaurant for dinner, delicious conch fritters and fish tacos.  It was a fun place to sit out on the beach and watch the boats go by. Next door is Pierre's French Restaurant. We hope to go there next time. Here are the local roosters greeting me! https://moradabay.com/

The Great Escape to the Florida Keys by Jennifer Palermo

Day 2 - We had a great brunch at the Checca Lodge's 'Atlantic's Edge' Restaurant including made to order omelets and pancakes. We enjoyed a day at the pool and went for a kayak ride (free of charge.) We signed up for the Sunset Cruise and enjoyed being out on the water and watching the sun go down. The Captain talked about the area and life in the Keys.

We recently had a wonderful vacation to Islamorada (which means purple island) in the Florida Keys. We stayed at the wonderful Checca Lodge! https://www.cheeca.com/

Day 1 - An early flight on Spirit from AC to Ft Lauderdale got us in early by 9:30 am. We got our rental car and were off to the Keys. It's always exciting driving through the Keys seeing all the palm trees and turquoise water and feeling the warm air!

We knew the second we got to the Checca Lodge that we were in for a treat! The hotel lobby opens up to sandy beaches and the ocean!

Our suite was perfect and we had a kitchen with refrig & stove, a small living room, comfortable king bed, soaking tub and shower and a lanai overlooking the lagoon waters & the ocean beyond.

We headed to Publix to get some things for the room- Eggs & Bacon, OJ, Chef's salad, Chicken Caesar salad and munchies.

We had dinner at the Tiki Hut. We ordered a tasty pizza from Mia Cucina on property. It was very relaxing and fun meeting friendly people. There are so many beautiful flowers and plants on the property! The grounds were well kept and the housekeeping was excellent.
