Congress Hall's Blue Pig Tavern Busy for Dead of Winter

Recently our friends invited us to go out with them to the Blue Pig Tavern in Congress Hall in Cape May, NJ. The restaurant was packed on a recent Saturday night in the dead of winter. We had a cozy table right by a blazing fire!

We enjoyed cocktails in the Brown Room, before dinner. I loved the divine chocolate martini (above). The cozy bar has plenty of seating, attentive servers and a roaring fire. The Safari decor was a step back in time in this historic building from the 1800’s.

The crock of creamy  New England clam chowder was heavenly with tasty clams and potatoes. $5. The special , a delicious Prime Rib came with an enjoyable salad and a baked potato. $25.

The pasta pappardelle had a pleasing variety of flavors; broccoli rabe, white beans and sausage in chicken broth served with parm cheese. $18.

Historic Congress Hall has lovely rooms great for your next getaway, convention or retreat along with a  spa and shops to enjoy. Live music on the weekends. In the summer they offer outdoor dining.

Blue Pig Tavern  29 Perry St. Cape May 609 884-8422 Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
