The Great Escape to the Florida Keys by Jennifer Palermo
Day 2 - We had a great brunch at the Checca Lodge's 'Atlantic's Edge'
Restaurant including made to order omelets and pancakes. We enjoyed a day at
the pool and went for a kayak ride (free of charge.) We signed up for the
Sunset Cruise and enjoyed being out on the water and watching the sun go down.
The Captain talked about the area and life in the Keys.
We recently had a wonderful vacation to Islamorada (which
means purple island) in the Florida Keys. We stayed at the wonderful Checca
Day 1 - An early flight on Spirit from AC to Ft Lauderdale
got us in early by 9:30 am. We got our rental car and were off to the Keys.
It's always exciting driving through the Keys seeing all the palm trees and
turquoise water and feeling the warm air!
We knew the second we got to the Checca Lodge that we were
in for a treat! The hotel lobby opens up to sandy beaches and the ocean!
Our suite was perfect
and we had a kitchen with refrig & stove, a small living room, comfortable
king bed, soaking tub and shower and a lanai overlooking the lagoon waters
& the ocean beyond.
We headed to Publix to get some things for the room- Eggs
& Bacon, OJ, Chef's salad, Chicken Caesar salad and munchies.
We had dinner at the Tiki Hut. We ordered a tasty pizza from
Mia Cucina on property. It was very relaxing and fun meeting friendly people. There
are so many beautiful flowers and plants on the property! The grounds were well
kept and the housekeeping was excellent.
