Panico's Bistro - A first class Restaurant off the beaten path in West Cape May

We finally got down to enjoy a great restaurant in West Cape May-  Panico's Bistro located in a renovated Church on Broadway. We attended our friends' wedding there in the 1970s!! My has it changed!!

Fabulous food! We started with warm bread & evoo. Next enjoyed the antipasto of fresh Italian meats, provolone, peppers, artichokes and more. $14.

Next we devoured the side of meatballs $4.  then...The Trio- Meat lasagna, ravioli and chicken parm.$18  Great sauce, perfectly prepared.

The Sunday Dinner-Meatballs, sausage, pork with gravy, rigatoni & ricotta!! $18 a huge, delicious  portion served in a large bowl. Abbondanza!

Friendly, efficient service. They don't take reservations but you can call ahead to get your name on a list for first available. BYOB Also an interesting pizza menu and a children's menu/

"Soul Surfer" Bethany Hamilton Returns to Support Local After School Program at Ocean City Tabernacle

Championship surfer Bethany Hamilton helped raise money for the Ocean City Tabernacle's "Son Club" After School Program at the sellout crowd at The Flanders Hotel. Bethany spent time meeting many of the young people and their parents and discussing with them what is was like to survive a shark attack and how she got back on her board and continues to surf at the Championship level. "We all will face challenges and problems in life", she told the over 300 people in attendance, "if you haven't you will in the future."  Her faith in God, finding something you are passionate about and setting goals have helped her overcome.

Bethany now has a 5 month old baby boy named Tobias with husband Adam Dirks. Changing the baby's diaper has been a challenge with only one arm, but she has learned to do it with the help of her feet!  Seems to me Bethany has what it takes to face any challenges life brings her way.

Bethany fondly remembers coming to Ocean City as a child since her dad grew up locally and she was "stoked to get to ride waves at Waverly." A Gardens beach!

Along with her husband Adam Dirks, they now have a ministry to help others who have lost a limb. According to their website    "We hold conferences and retreats in order to encourage those who have experienced limb-loss, or other difficult situations."

Aaron Palermo and Band added their soft sounds to the evening festivities.

The Son Club is a ministry reaching over 200 kids at the Ocean CIty Tabernacle offering  a free after school program for kids up to 8th grade including help with homework, recreation, Bible Study and piano and guitar lessons. The Ocean City business community is very supportive of the work Eric Hitchner and his team are doing for the children of Ocean City.

Coastal Storm October 5, 2015 did major beach erosion on Ocean City, NJ beaches, but surfers enjoyed the big waves.

Notice the dunes cut away near North Street in Ocean City.
