Day 3 The Great Escape to the Florida Keys
Written by Jennifer Palermo

Day 3 - Since Islamorada is the "Sportfishing Capital of the World", we rose early for a morning of fishing with Captain Greg Poland, recommended by the staff. http://www.gregpoland.com/ Greg was a great guide who explained a lot about the area and the fish we might catch. He picked us up at the hotel dock and we headed out to the lighthouse for some early barracuda fishing. It was a lot of fun reeling in the barracuda as they give you a real fight. After pictures, we threw it back. Then we headed out for some deep sea fishing as it was a calm day. We were given the option to head to the back bays where we were guaranteed catching fish or taking a chance going further out since it was a calm day. The Capt was very knowledgeable and helpful. I got one good bite which may have been a tuna but he got away. It was an enjoyable morning. We packed hoagies for the trip but ate them when we got back to our room.

That afternoon we headed over to Morada Bay Restaurant for dinner, delicious conch fritters and fish tacos.  It was a fun place to sit out on the beach and watch the boats go by. Next door is Pierre's French Restaurant. We hope to go there next time. Here are the local roosters greeting me! https://moradabay.com/

Basilico's Ristorante in Sea Isle - Fabulous Authentic Italian Food

Great food will get you to return again and again to a restaurant and that's how it is at Basilico's. We go there as often as we can and enjoy bringing along friends. They have a great menu of authentic "Red Sauce" Italian food along with great white sauce items as well. You will also enjoy fabulous fresh seafood dishes with wonderful flavors. Check out their specials too. Always creative!

For starters they have a delicious antipasto full of fresh Italian meats and cheeses.

Other appetizers we love are the bang bang shrimp and the incredible meatballs with ricotta.

You will be served fresh bread with a tasty oil, garlic, balsamic dipping sauce. Then comes the complimentary house salad with a very tasty homemade dressing. Watch out or you will be full already!

Let's start the entrees by saying you may get the best lasagna with red meat sauce ever! They also have a seafood lasagna (crab & spinach & white sauce) I love!...get that too!

We highly recommend the chicken parm, veal parm & eggplant parm served with pasta. Fettucine alfredo with mushrooms, chicken & peas is another great dish! The menu has a great selection including pizza and a kids menu. The friendly servers can help you with any questions.

Basilico's is a short drive south of Ocean City via the 59th St.Bridge or the Parkway south.

BYOB Be sure to feed the meters at the stations near your spot. Be sure to make reservations early. Check out opentable.
